🌐 Important update on the progress of the UK Online Safety Act 🌐 ▶️ The UK Online Safety Act is a significant piece of legislation aimed at making the internet a safer place for everyone. It applies to a broad range of online services, including: ⏩ User-to-user services: Social media platforms, online forums, video sharing sites, and dating services. ⏩ Search services: Search engines that help users find information online. ⏩ Other services: Consumer file cloud storage, sharing sites, and online instant messaging services. Importantly, the Act applies to these services even if based outside UK, if they have significant links to UK, such as a substantial number of UK users or if UK is a target market. On 18th April, Sarah joined Richard Mathias from Minerva, to talk through the changes around the new TA6. https://lnkd.in/ex9AHnPx If you are a CQS accredited firm, you will know that (currently) the new forms must be used by 25th June 2024 at the latest. In their chat, Richard and Sarah decided to look at what new law firm onboarding “flow” of Sale matters would look like, taking this new TA6 Form into consideration. We would prefer firms to remain compliant with CQS CPMS, so we come at this debate from the viewpoint of “Prepare for the worst; Hope for the best”. We covered preparation, positional and interests based negotiation, whether there are particular types of disputes that are amenable to mediation or particular points in the DR process when you should mediate, the added considerations when mediating cross-jurisdictional disputes, helpful tools when framing offers and negotiating and ideas on how you can help others to shift their stance during settlement discussions.
