Snow and weather warnings have dominated headlines over the weekend, making it crucial for vulnerable households to know what support is available, to help them stay warm. Distributed through our charity partners, our £2m Winter Support Fund provides an emergency financial relief to those affected by fuel poverty, in the form of food and fuel vouchers and cooking and heating appliances. Working together for a future without fuel poverty
About us
The Cadent Foundation was established as a Donor Advised fund in July 2019, funded from a share of the profits of Cadent Gas, the country’s largest gas distribution network. Cadent operates across some of the most disadvantaged areas in the country. In fact, eight out of the top ten most deprived local authority districts in England are situated within Cadent’s network. This means that millions of people are facing daily struggles due to low income, inadequate housing and barriers to accessing support services. As a utility company, Cadent is uniquely placed to see the real-life impact fuel poverty and low energy efficiency has on the people in our communities. The Cadent Foundation was set up to help play a part in addressing these inequalities. The Cadent Foundation has been working with charities and partners since 2019. Our aim is to help households find sustainable solutions to fuel poverty and ensure people are safe and warm in their homes. By working with charitable organisations we strive to help households improve their financial wellbeing and become more energy efficient through advice, support and practical measures. The Cadent Foundation is administered by Charities Trust (Charity Registration No: 327489) who we work with to manage the grant giving and ensure that all funds donated by the Foundation are only used to further charitable purposes for the public benefit.

We are very proud to support this project with our partner Act on Energy, so it was great to see it featured on BBC's The One Show last night. The feature demonstrated the impact of helping people return to warm homes. The project delivers vital support for those in fuel and general poverty who are at risk of re-admission to Birmingham hospitals. See more below 👇🏻👇🏻
Did you catch us on the One Show last night? ⭐ We were proud to welcome the BBC camera crew to our new partnership with BCHC Charity where presenter, Kevin Duala, spoke to our new Direct Access to Wellbeing Services (DAWS) team. The report - which opened Tuesday’s show - followed two beneficiaries of the initiative, Zara and Ali, who are receiving energy, financial and medical support from the team. We’re committed to supporting the communities where we operate. Working with Cadent Foundation, we’ve invested over £2.4m into this partnership with NHS Charities Together 💙, launching a new team dedicated to tackling fuel poverty and helping those that are most vulnerable within the healthcare system. The intrinsic link between fuel poverty and health is clear – which is why this partnership is so important and will support over 100,000 people over the next two years in Birmingham. You can catch the full story on BBC iPlayer within the first five minutes of Tuesday’s show. https://lnkd.in/e_b5_R6S

🏆 We’re winners! Last night, we were honoured to win the Cost of Living Award at the prestigious Utility Week Awards 2024. This achievement recognises our unwavering dedication to tackling fuel poverty and creating meaningful change. We partnered on this award as a ‘force for good’ with Cadent, and its great Centres for Warmth initiative, to demonstrate how we’re helping communities access vital resources and find relief from the burden of rising costs. Ranjit Blythe, Managing Director of the Cadent Foundation commented; “We’re so proud to be recognised with this award as we remain resolute in our mission to bring hope and help to those struggling with energy bills and everyday essentials. “Winning this award is bittersweet, but it does highlight the urgency of the challenges being faced. So this is more than an award—it’s a call to action.” Our £2m Winter Support Fund is just one of the ways we help people right now, through energy and food vouchers offered by our charity partners.
