The Childbase Partnership Academy of Excellence has received brilliant results with 72% of our apprentices receiving a Distinction, against a sector average of 56%. Phoebe, one of our apprentices from Nature Trails Day Nursery explained; “I recently received a Distinction and doing this apprenticeship with the Childbase Academy was the best opportunity I could have chosen. We are over the moon to be rated 'Good' at our first inspection by Ofsted. The inspectors said: "Apprentices gain new knowledge, skills and behaviours quickly and apply this learning to their work. They take responsibility for the children they care for and quickly learn to work independently with them." "Leaders have developed a range of ambitious courses that support the demand for high-quality early years staff and leaders. They work closely with employers to understand their staffing challenges and to meet skills gaps in the sector." A promotion to Area Manager for Emma Brodigan has provided added sparkle to National Careers Week celebrations at Childbase Partnership where all 2,000 plus employee owners are encouraged to aim for ‘more’ in their careers. Emma, who joined Childbase Partnership in 2003 straight from college with a National Diploma, held every leadership role within nursery and supported by the company, achieved a degree in Early Years. As Manager and Deputy to Area Manager, she took Seabrook Day Nursery in Luton to Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ twice before moving to a roving role of Support Manager to help sister settings. “I got the support I needed and have the career I want and that is possible for everyone at Childbase. Whether it is progressing to leadership roles or improving the work experience, everyone has access to training, support and mentoring to help them meet personal goals,” said Emma who is now Area Manager supporting five regional settings. #mycareerjourney #progression #earlyyears #supportandmentoring

As part of National Careers Week we asked Alannah, a practitioner at Nature Trails Day Nursery in Rugby, about her experience in Early Years so far. She said: “I started working at Nature Trails in September 2021 as an unqualified practitioner. I have since started my Level 3 Qualification with The Childbase Training Academy of Excellence. I am excited to be learning more about early years and working towards my qualification whilst doing the job I love. Once I have passed my Level 3 qualification, I know there are additional training opportunities through the Academy to support me in progressing my career. I have my sights on becoming a Team Leader one day. As an employee-owned company, we are all about helping each other to be the best we can be in our jobs and encouraged to aim high when it comes to developing our careers.
