The School of Health and Psychological Sciences delivers foundation, UG, PG, apprenticeship, CPPD and City Health short courses across the Divisions of Health Services Research and Management, Language and Communication Sciences, Midwifery and Radiography, Nursing, and Optometry and Visual Sciences. Our purpose is to improve the health, care and wellbeing of individuals and communities through the highest quality education, world-leading research and progressive partnerships. We serve the need for specialist education and professional training of school leavers, healthcare and graduates from all academic backgrounds, and healthcare and allied medicine professionals from the UK, the EU and from nearly 100 countries. We are actively engaged in internationally recognised research that has a direct and real impact on the provision of healthcare services locally, nationally, and internationally. We have over 120 years’ experience in training health professionals and were one of the first institutions in the world to train optometrists. We are proud of our healthcare education heritage and of the pioneering healthcare professionals who have paved the way for their respective professions.
