After two years of negotiations with private creditors, multilateral institutions, and financial institutions, we’ve assisted the Republic of Ghana in closing its precedent setting restructuring of its approximately US$13 billion outstanding Eurobond debt. This international restructuring follows the successful conclusion of Ghana’s first-of-its-kind comprehensive domestic debt exchange in October 2023. With both the international bond restructuring and the domestic debt restructuring now complete, Ghana is positioned to put its entire debt on a sustainable path. Our cross-border, cross-practice team was led by partners Evan Koster and Bruno Ciuffetelli, with assistance from senior associates Juan D. Moreno and Lauren Kimmel, and associate Ignacio Esteban Beheran. Our London team was led by senior counsel Andrew Carey with support from senior associate William P., associate Niki M., and trainee solicitor Maya Paniara. Additional support was provided by partner and co-head of our Restructuring and Special Situations practice Ronald Silverman, partner Dennis Tracey, group manager Alex Sciannaca, senior associate Jennifer Lee, and associate Guntash G.. On Thursday, September 19, the Steering Committee of the Africa Future Leaders Group at Hogan Lovells had the pleasure of hosting a cocktail reception in Paris, bringing together over 40 clients and colleagues from across our global network. Following a similar event held in London last year, we brought together leading Africa change-makers to discuss current trends on the continent, while exploring potential synergies and future collaboration. This event also allowed Hogan Lovells to reaffirm its position as the go-to firm for work in Africa, whether advising on M&A, project development, infrastructure financing, dispute resolution, or on a wide range of issues from cybersecurity to new regulations, we are clients firm of choice. #HLAfrica #AfricaFutureLeaders #Event #Paris
