This review takes a transdisciplinary approach to work–family (WF) research, offering new perspectives on different family forms in the context of employment.  2. The review shows that the WF experiences of lone-parents and blended families differ significantly from those of traditional or nuclear families. 3. The authors demonstrate that blended and lone-parent families struggle with conventional WF policies based on traditional family forms. These families face four main challenges: (1) complex residential arrangements and relationships with co-parents; (2) managing (limited) resources; (3) navigating stigma; and (4) narrow cultural scripts defining family roles.  4. The authors demonstrate that non-traditional families occupy a ‘liminal’ WF space due to their more fluid parental, occupational and household identities compared to traditional families.  5. A review and analysis” by Lucy Ryan, Caroline Gatrell (Feb 2024). 🔥 What’s fascinating? 🤔 🔥The authors reflect on the question: How are employed, middle- and older-age women treated in organizations, and what are employers’ perceptions of these workers? 🔥Through our analysis, the authors identify and critique two predominant, conflicting yet inter-related themes. These are, namely, notions of constraint (and women's supposed/perceived reduced competencies as they age) versus ideas of flexibility (foregrounding assumptions that employed women experience fewer limitations as they age). 🔥As a theoretical lens for theorizing the constraints theme, the authors draw upon the concept of abjection, highlighting how employer perceptions of women's health as supposedly diminishing can lead to discriminatory treatment at work. 🔥In analysing theoretical assumptions regarding apparently enhanced flexibility among middle- and older-age women, the authors note how women's differing circumstances and requirements might go unrecognized. By consolidating these findings, a typology of strategic actions in the digital age is developed and discussed, highlighting the interplay among changes in strategy-as-practice parameters. This framework clarifies in strategic scenarios of digital transformation and identifies various strategic directions and actions. 3. 🚀 Saturday Happy Reading! 📚 Check out this must-read in IJMR: “Explaining differences in internationalization between emerging and developed economy born global firms: A systematic literature review and the way forward” by Amrita Manohar, Eleni Lioliou, martha prevezer, George Saridakis (August 2024). 🔥 What’s fascinating? 🤔 🔥The authors conduct a systematic literature review that analyses 148 empirical research articles published during 2010–2023, highlighting how BGs from developed and emerging economies differ in terms of their firm and entrepreneurial characteristics, as well as their operating environments.  🔥The authors find that these differences shape the BG's disposition to distance, liabilities and risks, with BGs from emerging economies facing additional liabilities and demonstrating a greater tolerance for risk and distance compared with BGs from developed economies. This leads to particular outcomes with regard to the BG's strategic choice of host country and internationalization mode, as well as its performance. Their review advances knowledge of career success from proximal to distal contexts and offers a shifting perspective of city and national career actors.
