🚧 We were delighted to participate in the recent online MPA Health & Safety Awards 2024, which showcased 'Safer by Sharing.'🌟 We're proud to have been finalists for two Mineral Products Association H&S Awards, celebrating true excellence in Health & Safety. A huge congratulations to this year’s award winners! In Category 6: Safer operations at a contracting, construction, or customer site, our innovative device designed to hold open the chutes on the rear door of asphalt tipper lorries was shortlisted as a finalist. Congrats to Tarmac Holdings Ltd on their well-deserved win in this category! Additionally, we were honoured to have been runners-up for the Eurobitume Award, recognising safety innovation in the handling or processing of bitumen. 🙌 Eleanor Forrest Reid, our head of Health & Safety, shared that the judges were particularly impressed by our collaborative approach to safety, where we listen to our employees' feedback and actively engage them in solutions. This chute device was designed by one of the truck drivers following a safety meeting. We were delighted to receive recognition within the industry for our safety practices. Videos of the finalists and winning entries can be viewed on the MPA YouTube channel, featuring a film of the 2024 awards event and previous years. #healthandsafety #mpaawards2024 #teamwork #innovations #saferbysharing

This is the moment a mechanical engineer fell from height while working at a HS2 site. He suffered a fractured skull, hip, jaw and pelvis after landing on the concrete floor 11 metres below. The man had fallen through a gap after stair treads had been removed from a stairway. EMC Elite Engineering Services Ltd, the man’s employer, was subsequently fined over £50,000 following a HSE prosecution. Read more about this HSE prosecution here: https://lnkd.in/eYjfGy_m
