We are recruiting! We're currently looking for two (TWO) Peat Project Officers to help us make the #GreatNorthBog boggy again. You will will work as part of our Restoration Team, delivering peat restoration across multiple sites in the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale National Landscape, North York Moors and South Pennines. It is a varied role which utilises a wide range of skills including project management, ecology and hydrology peatland surveys, QGIS and stakeholder management. Let’s clear that snowdrift! ❄ It might take a bit of effort now, but it will save Yorkshire Peat Partnership loads of time later. Walking to our survey area adds over an hour to each end of our day, and with daylight in short supply, every minute counts! By clearing the path, we can drive almost to the start of our transects. This means more time for surveys and a fresher, more alert team ready to spot erosion features, plant assemblages, but also importantly, potential hazards. #SafetyFirst in the #GreatNorthBog

Great to showcase #WildIngleborough owls. It's lovely watching our resident barn owls at the Wild Ingleborough HQ at Colt Park Barn. Can be a bit messy though - constantly sweeping up pellets outside the office door.

Just like peatlands, mangrove forests are under-appreciated on many levels. This model brilliantly illustrates how they mitigate wave action on the shore.

Over a year ago, we proudly invested in the Wild Ingleborough programme, a local conservation initiative dedicated to restoring and regenerating nature in the Yorkshire region. Instead of offsetting carbon emissions abroad, our focus has been on increasing biodiversity right here at home. One of the major highlights of the programme has been increasing the population of some of Britain’s rarest flowers. It is fantastic to see how we are playing a role in helping to nurture local ecosystems. This year, we’re excited to participate in more volunteer initiatives, giving our colleagues the chance to experience the incredible work happening at Wild Ingleborough firsthand.
