My visit to Megane Bridge in Nagasaki was so cool! The bridge, built over 400 years ago, is shaped like a pair of glasses when you see its reflection in the water. That’s how it got its fun nickname, “Spectacles Bridge”! I loved the beautiful, curved stone design and how strong and well-built it looked even after so many centuries. The view of Nagasaki Bay from Mt. Inasa is truly beautiful, with a black crane floating in the dazzling lights. The view of the wharf, with the silhouettes of ships lit by the setting sun, ships floating in the sea at night, and the lights of buildings reflected on the water, is called the "Million Dollar Night View." Even during the day, the ships floating on the sea with the mountains in the background are beautiful. Finally, the bus terminal for the Airport Liner Bus to Nagasaki Airport, "MIRAI NAGASAKI COCOTOWN", has a variety of stores including fashion, gourmet food, and bookstores, and there is also a Ferris wheel on one of the floors along the way. This year marks the 15th anniversary of "MIRAI NAGASAKI COCOTOWN" and rides on the Ferris wheel were free, so I was lucky to be able to ride it before heading to the airport. It's a commercial facility in front of a tram stop close to Nagasaki Station, but the city seen from the top of the Ferris wheel looked like a beautiful townscape, with buildings and houses lined up tightly against the backdrop of the mountains. Looking around, I saw that the kindergarteners were on a field trip to visit MeganeBridge. The teacher said, "Come on, everyone, watch your step and let's go find the ♡stone." I heard him clearly... Okay! There was no way to find the ♡stone other than to follow behind. I was embarrassed, but I followed the kindergarteners and finally reached the ♡stone. "Thank you, kindergarteners. Thank you, teacher." I waited my turn while muttering to myself... It seemed like everyone had big dreams, so it took a while for my turn to come. I waited at a distance, and finally it was my turn! . Apparently there were a few ♡stones, but the ♡stone was in a low place where the little kindergarteners could see it. Looking back, I wondered what they'd placed there, when I noticed a cute toy, resting on some coins in a gap between the stones below. Smiling to myself, I made a wish to match them. I heard that this ♡ stone was embedded in the stone walls when Meganebashi and other bridges were restored after many bridges, including Meganebashi, were washed away during the Nagasaki flood, but I haven't looked into it clearly so I don't know the details, but there are a lot of couples who go there! I walked from the Shianbashi tram stop along the route, and in addition to Meganebashi, there were many other stone bridges, and all the bridges were beautiful, the weather was fine, and the autumn breeze was pleasant, so it was fun. The blue sky and white clouds reflected on the surface of the river were very beautiful.

The Oura Church in Nagasaki City is one of the 12 sites related to the history of Christianity in Japan. The group of churches and Christian sites were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2018. This particular church is located in the southern part of Nagasaki City, while some of the other in the list are located in other parts of the Nagasaki Prefecture. To get to the Oura Church, it is possible to walk 15-20 min from city center. The area is in fact part of the Foreign Settlement area of Nagasaki in the 19th century. Therefore you can also visit Glover Garden and Chinese Confucius Shrine nearby. The Church was built by French missionaries in 1864 and is the oldest church in Japan. It was also designated as a National treasure in 1933 by the Japanese Government. Entrance fee is ¥1000 for adult and 400 for high school students which I thought was a little expensive. Mount Inasa indeed captures the best view of Nagasaki City from above. It is just a short 10 minutes drive up the curvy road in the western part of the city. There are several ways to reach the observatory, including ropeway (1250 yen round trip), bus and of course by car . If you drive, parking spaces are available at the summit. Once at the top, go up to the rooftop of the observatory building for a 360 degrees view. The west side faces the ocean and is absolutely stunning at sunset. The other side overlooks Nagasaki City on the two sides of the Uragami River. The observatory building also has a couple of fast food restaurants for light snacks and drinks. This is a very new hotel in Nagasaki and just across the street from Chinatown and the main shopping area. The location is excellent and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room is small but sufficient for a Queen size bed. I love the long sofa by the window which is great for sitting and putting out the luggages. the SkySpa is on the top floor- 12th floor. It is free for hotel guests to use. The hotel has two affiliated parking- both are literally just next to the hotel. One cost 1200 yen from 12-12. Park the car first and get the 1200yen ticket from the reception desk . Then pay directly at the parking lot. Glover Garden was built for Scottish merchant Thomas Glover, who lived and helped in the industrialization of Japan in the late 19th century. Glover was involved in many businesses including ship building, coal mining, and beer brewing. The houses in the garden are the oldest western - style houses in Japan. They sit on top of the hill and has a beautiful view of the city and the harbor. Oranda is the Japanese word for 'Netherlands', but since the Dutch settled in Nagasaki, and the Portuguese and British settled there, they called them 'Oranda-san', so it can be said that Orandazaka is a place where many Europeans, including the Dutch, lived :)

This is the large terminal we used when we went to the Goto Islands. It seems you can also go to Gunkanjima, and there were several high-speed ferries stopping here. It's close to Nagasaki Station, so it's easily accessible. The terminal also has shops and restaurants, so you can relax. You can get a panoramic view of the ocean from the second floor.
