  • NMMC expands use of desalinated technical water for sustainable gold production Gold production, especially the extraction of precious metals from ore, relies heavily on water. For NMMC, efficient water use and conservation are essential pillars of our ESG strategy. To meet the growing needs of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 3 (HMP-3), NMMC established the Beshbulak pumping station in 2016, along with a 20-kilometer salt-resistant pipeline. This infrastructure currently supplies an average of 6 million cubic meters of technical water annually, with plans to increase this figure to 8 million cubic meters by 2025. The Desalination Complex at HMP-3, developed by the German company Eurowater AB, purifies water from the Beshbulak station to supply the BIOX plant. Using highly mineralized groundwater extracted from a depth of 200 meters, the facility produces over 2.6 million cubic meters of desalinated water annually, reducing dependency on water from the Amu Darya-Zarafshan pipeline. Geological studies have confirmed a 25-year reserve of this underground saline water. NMMC is committed to achieving 40% water reuse by 2030, in line with global best practices for sustainable resource management. By utilizing advanced desalination technology and optimizing resource usage, NMMC remains at the forefront of sustainable development while supporting Uzbekistan’s economic growth. #NMMC #GoldMining #WaterManagement #Desalination #Sustainability #ResourceEfficiency #Uzbekistan
