A new Data Law is scheduled to come into force on July 1, 2025, alongside two expected drafts concerning Personal Data Protection Law and Digital Technology, both anticipated for release in 2025. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱: Privacy compliance challenges persist and increase, as demonstrated by a growing list of new challenges. DPOs and relevant stakeholders are now faced with an increasing number of tasks to ensure compliance with new privacy and data protection regulations. As part of this effort, privacy assessments must be conducted to meet regulatory requirements aligned with the PDPD. Additionally, the privacy framework needs to be localized and customized to align with specific business models and local privacy regulations. These efforts demand considerable input from DPOs and stakeholders, particularly for those juggling the DPO role alongside primary responsibilities in data analytics, data governance, or legal, compliance, and risk management. 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺: DPOs and stakeholders have been tasked with an additional responsibility alongside their existing privacy day jobs. Consequently, there is a reliance on a shared resource model for DPOs, who also oversee data governance and data ethics.
