How Does Rihanna Manage to Make Even the Most Basic Ponytail So Sexy?

Answer: She's Rihanna, duh.

When it comes to makeup, personal style, music and pretty much everything else, Rihanna has the golden touch. If she wears it, it's instantly a thousand times cooler — case in point, the basic ponytail she recently wore for a trip to Tokyo, which elevated the hairstyle from a simple pulled-back classic to something sleek and sexy.

The musician and Fenty Beauty founder was snapped during a visit to the famed ramen restaurant Ippudo looking beyond glam in a sheer, as-yet-unreleased Savage x Fenty slip over a black bra and underwear with a long black leather trench layered over the top, her dark hair pulled back in a slicked-back low ponytail to add to the private eye-chic vibes of her ensemble. Her edges were perfectly swooped at her temples, and while her eyes were hidden by a pair of chunky exaggerated cat-eye sunglasses, we have a feeling her eye makeup was equally sultry. Though you have to really zoom in to see it, Rih is currently rocking a black-tipped manicure. Oh, and is that the iconic Fenty Gloss Bomb on her lips? (If it lasted through a ramen dinner, it truly must be magic.)

Of course, it doesn't come as a surprise that RiRi can take the humble ponytail to the stratosphere of cool. That's just how she rolls. The megastar loves a good ponytail moment; in March, she hit the streets in a curly high ponytail with equally sculpted baby hairs, and she also wore the extremely versatile style for her Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, opting for a multi-strand braided Medusa ponytail with face-framing tendrils. You may think of a low ponytail as a handy hairstyle for days at the computer or when you're washing your face, but as Rihanna proves, it can easily become the sexiest hairstyle in your routine as long as you style it right!
