A fan-shaped trio of seven-story buildings curve around a beachfront pool and patio at this Grace Bay resort, close to Providenciales's shopping district. Enormous rooms in soft colors have marble baths and soaking tubs, proving that bigger can mean better. Staff members always serve with a smile and make a point of remembering names. The restaurant Seven dishes up Caribbean-inspired cuisine, with entrees like house-made stone crab ravioli, or you can opt for private beachfront dining, complete with a personal butler and a playlist of your choosing. If you're traveling with the family, the kids camp provides diversions such as lizard hunting and sand-castle building—or you can all go for a dip in the island's only heated saltwater pool.

Ambergris Cay
Readers' Choice Awards 2022, 2023
Located in the southwest Atlantic off the main chain of Turks and Caicos, the remote island of Ambergris Cay (not to be confused with Ambergris Caye in Belize) melds wildlife and azure waters with private plunge pools and butler service in standalone beachfront villas. The underdeveloped island, which has long partnered with the San Diego Zoo for animal-research programs, is home to 10 oceanfront resort suites and 20 villas, and offers bikes and golf carts for milling between the private pool and beach activities. Guests arrive by private air transfer, and for those staying in a suite the two on-site dining options are bolstered by complimentary in-room dining available 24 hours a day.

Ocean Club West
Readers' Choice Awards 2020, 2021, 2022
Sitting about a mile down Grace Bay Beach from its sister property, Ocean Club, on the northeastern shore of Providenciales, this 64-suite resort is easily recognized by its rows of pink umbrellas dotting the white sand. They almost seem to mimic the rosy hue inside a conch shell—a creature that happens to be on the island nation’s flag. The grounds are laid out in concentric rings: Accommodations encircle a tropical garden, which surrounds a free-form pool, which wraps around a palm-studded island, on which a gazebo hides a barbecue grill for guest use. Visitors can request complimentary stand-up paddle boards or kayaks to explore the neighboring bay, play a round of tennis or pickleball, or simply relax in the sunshine at the beachfront restaurant, Solana. Nothing will get you on island time quicker than some conch fritters and a Bambarra rum, which is blended and bottled right here on the island.

Away from the developed chaos of Grace Bay, the Shore Club occupies a prime stretch of Long Bay Beach—stunning but still secluded, and minutes from Provo’s town center. The design is classic without being overly cutesy-colonial, and the dominant color is turquoise, as in the ocean and sky that are visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows with views in which you can just lose yourself. Elsewhere, there are plenty of distractions. Rates include complimentary use of non-motorized water sports equipment, and the bells and whistles include the Dune Spa, a fitness center with a private tennis court and lap pool, three restaurants including the Peruvian-Japanese Sui-Ren and the family-friendly Caribbean-inspired Sea Grapes, a smart boutique, four swimming pools (adults, family, exercise, and a bonus), and a kids club.

Located on Grace Bay in Providenciales, blue skies and blissful white sand views are the hallmarks of this beach resort, perfect for a parents-only getaway or a trip with the kids. Just how perfect, you might ask? Rooms flush with white linens overlook the pristine pool or the ocean, and the three-bedroom Penthouse Suite touts its own private outdoor shower to wash off the wear and tear of a day by the water. Stop to take in views of the crystalline surf at the uncrowded beach, and check in to the award-winning, 25,000-square- foot spa for a Mother of Pearl body exfoliation, delivered with a blend of hand-crushed conch shells and a soothing rain shower. Amenities include bikes to ride into town, just 10 minutes away, and endless opportunities to partake of beach vacation must-dos, like horseback riding, parasailing, tennis, whale watching, and jet-skiing, just to name a few.

The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos
Readers' Choice Awards 2022
A 12-floor Providenciales resort opened in 2021, the Ritz-Carlton Turks and Caicos is the first Marriott on the island and a favorite for its white-sand beachfront on famed Grace Bay. Views of the turquoise water from upper floors are well worth the upgrade, and there are designated family and adults-only pools that couples and families alike will appreciate. When you tire of the sun, hit the signature Ritz-Carlton spa for a relaxing massage or restoring skin treatment.

Set on the scrubby nub of the Northwest Point Marine National Park on Providenciales, the Amanyara resort in Turks and Caicos is a veritable vision. The rooms, in airy gazebos made of Indonesian wood, float like water lilies on the central reflecting pool, and are surrounded on three sides by floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls that lead down to sunken dining areas and bedroom floors inlaid with teak. Opt for one of the Ocean Villas—the most private of all—and enjoy an infinity-edge pool, a private garden brimming with native island vegetation, and a dockside day bed, perfect for taking that much-needed cat nap. And at The Restaurant, simplicity is the focus in both name and cuisine: Sample the spiny Caribbean lobster, grilled over a hot flame, and dig your toes into the sand.

The sand at wellness-pioneer COMO Parrot Cay might be the whitest in the Caribbean, but the massages at its Shambhala Retreat are so effective that visitors may spend more time in the treatment rooms than on the beach. That’s more or less what your days will consist of—not to mention biking around the island, snorkeling, kayaking, and dawdling over long feasts. The only reason to wear a watch is to make sure you don’t miss yoga. For those who prefer their Caribbean hotels a bit more hedonistic, you can always skip the green juice and slurp a mojito at the bar, which Keith Richards has been known to frequent when he’s in residence. The Rolling Stone is just one of the island’s famous homeowners. Donna Karan has called her Balinese-inspired villa on Parrot Cay “a sanctuary where I go to create awareness.” This is a wide-open, big-hearted place that puts beach life first.
