This compact cultivar is easy to grow as a houseplant. Its trunk twists naturally and adopts a gnarled, ancient appearance that is often looked for in Bonsai trees. Leaves are glossy and green, with shades of bronze. This is a dwarf cultivar, making it perfect for the container or fairy garden. A small deciduous shrub, it features bright orange-red flowers. They will appear on the tips from early summer through fall. If given enough light, it might even flower through the winter. Note that its small, 2" fruits are edible. They hang on the plant for many months, adding ornamental value.

Care: Plant in sun to partial shade. (Brighter is better for this cultivar.) Ensure moderate moisture, but brief periods with dry soil are fine. This cultivar likes well-draining soil. In spring, remove any small shoots that grow near the trunk.You can easily keep this plant pruned to maintain its height and shape. It will tolerate dryness, and when restricting the root system, it makes an excellent choice for a bonsai tree.
