“I was nervous about hiring anyone for my Mother’s bathroom remodel. She needed it remolded for safety and aging in place. Any professional that we had previously met with my Mother rejected. Then I noticed that my favorite inspirational app had recommendations for home professionals including designers. I decided to give it one last try and in reviewing local designers, I found Chai Design of Okemos, Michigan. I phoned first to get a feel for their business and explain what was needed. I spoke with Dee and her assistant Bailey and was immediately put at ease. They answered all my questions, were kind, considerate, professional, and most importantly listened well. So, I decided to make an appointment. Dee was very accommodating of appointment times and arrived on time to meet with myself and my Mother. Unfortunately, I was running late and thought this would be another rejection before I had a chance. But upon arrival I found them happily chatting away like old friends. Dee listened well and she had wonderful ideas for the remodel incorporating the needs for safety and the aesthetics that we were looking for. My Mother decided on the spot to hire Chai Design. We also relied on Dee to recommend the contractors. She has been in the business for a very long time and knows the right people to work with including matching the correct contractors’ personalities with clients’ personalities. This turned out to be very important consideration since they would be in our home almost every day for several weeks. Dee could not have picked a better team. Everyone worked beautifully together and she incorporated our ideas into the plan including some artwork that was important. Dee’s assistant, Bailey, would check in with us often and steer us in the correct order of the decision making process. She was also there to help with all of our questions and see that the timeline was flowing correctly. I live in a different state and could communicate with the design team utilizing texting and the Houzz app. Another important factor was they gave honest advice and were always there to check on the work progress. At the completion of the work my Mother remarked that Dee was masterful with her work. This was our first time working with a designer . I was certainly not expecting to have such a wonderful experience!. I would never think to hire any other design team other than Chai Design.”
