Everyone struggles with what to show and what not to show in their portfolio. One piece of advice from me is that you should ONLY put forward the projects you are most proud of. Your portfolio is as strong as your weakest design. "Add the best, leave the rest" when it comes to your portfolio. Hope this helps

There's something I am very sure would help someone reading this - your portfolio is not a catalogue of your design projects, no, it's more than just putting just every and any jobs you've worked on. Select the projects that best represent your expertise. Some projects shouldn't be on your portfolio, put only the best. Even if it's just a few projects, but carefully and professionally selected to attract and easily win your clients heart.

Sometimes we have dedicated a lot of time and effort into a design that does not seem to work. At this stage many designers are afraid to experiment. What helps me, is saving a backup file of my work and then going all out and bringing as many changes as I like. Pro Hint: I never had to go back to my backup almost ever. Staying up to date with latest software updates and trends is so so important. I, personally, follow a great community of Graphic Designers over on YouTube. Abby Connick, Will Paterson, BYOL, Lindsay Marsh to name a few. Keeping up with their regular uploads has helped me a chunk!

In a field where I feel I am constantly fighting to stay ahead of the curve and retain relevancy in terms of being the "go-to" service provider for design jobs, I love to read about new applications in the field and how I can integrate them in "traditional software" for lack of a better word such as Adobe Creative Suite. For example, in an age of "artificial intelligence," I find myself searching the web to see how creatives are merging vastly divergent creative concepts. It is a plus to get in the business of slightly modifying your skills so that you bring "fresh" ideas to the table.

Design softwares are constantly evolving with updates and new versions. Make sure you always have the latest version downloaded. Whenever there is a new version, the software itself has inbuilt tutorials that one can learn from and several resources available online. Being updated shows your willingness to learn and keep updating yourself.

The journey as a graphic designer just like most, is a journey through growth. Familiarizing yourself with your first favorite app and then the next, and just getting better at it. Learning to stay up to date, adapt and improve at honing your craft is the surest way to build !

As Graphic Designers, I know many can relate that we get very attached to our designs. And we most definitely struggle with hearing criticism and incorporating changes into a design that we already deem perfect. But as we grow as designers, we need to learn to experiment, we need to understand that there is infact a right or wrong. Whatever your customer desires is right the rest is wrong. RULE OF 3️⃣‼️ Keep only 3 key projects infront or the Interviewer, 4 and it's too many, 2 and it's too less. Now, only explain your role and how to came to the end result in less than a minute. keep balance of technical and visual practice. They will ask you the further questions where you can go in depth, as they like.
