Today, staff are not motivated by the principle of advancement alone. To value career advancement, they need to see their advancement as professional and personal improvement.

Are there any risks being anonymously submitted by employees? Compliance or safety concerns? How is the feedback intended to be addressed, or in some cases remedied? While feedback should be "constructive, respectful, and relevant" is the organization prepared with policies for mitigating emergency or hazardous situations? We cannot assume that all collaborative efforts will be positive.

When creating opportunities for collaboration and feedback I would add that it is important to keep inclusion top of mind. Being open to feedback also means embracing that you don’t know everything and that this is a great environment for innovation.

Creating a safe place where your staff is heard without fear of being punished is key. If you truly want feedback make sure you handle their feedback with respect, as they are being vulnerable. In addition, when collecting feedback, be ready to take immediate action. My recommendation is to look at the low-hanging fruit that will show good faith in your staff being vulnerable to you!

Health workers are rarely allowed to express themselves and think outside the box, so these kinds of activities could be transformative.

One on one mentoring is the best way to go; pair a novice with a veteran; provided the veteran is willing and genuine.
