It is possible to be innovative in being more reliable for example if you are delivering food , and you try a better way to package so the food stays warmer for longer time , this innovation does not impact the reliability of your service but enhance it . So be cognizant of this and focus on making evolutionary changes via innovation and not revolutionary changes that tend to impact reliability

As an example - if you are services have production incidents, instead of working on new features you will always be in a fire fighting mode. Similarly if you donot adopt to ever changing needs to customers, you may see customers leaving you. For reliability, define metrics, aim at continuous improvement & take regular feedbacks For innovation, define measurable outcome from the experiment, ensure its aligned to a business goal & define pivot or preserve milestones
