The Mentor-Mentee connection in Research is not based on the Hierarchy, not based on the Experience/Age etc., It is purely centric towards the Knowledge each other possess and how to exchange the research knowledge to explore the commons. I think it's worth thinking of mentorship as a network relationship, rather than a two-person relationship. Mentorship becomes a relationship between two people, but not the only relationship those two people have. Ideally, mentors should cultivate their own mentorships, and have peers (who are also mentors) with whom they can check in around their learning and growth as a mentor. Thus is similar to how therapists have their own therapists, in addition to their client work.
