There's also the dissemination of learning, the distribution of that knowledge (globally and quickly), the access to a tonne of information that could otherwise be behind a paywall and the encouragement to try something (I read something today about the rise in 'mending' linked to 'visible mending' and the trend emerging on instagram and that leading to more sustainable fashion. Learning how from others online is a MASSIVE part of the 'small nudges' that a big difference.

In a Museum project back in 2008 we used the main KM principles to promote social and environmental benefits as follows: • Social Inclusion: Enabled diverse groups to share and collaborate via digital platforms and interactive exhibits. • Social Responsibility: Used KM tools for informed decisions and reporting on social/environmental impacts, tracking carbon footprint reduction. • Social Innovation: Encouraged new exhibit ideas addressing social and environmental issues. • Environmental Waste Reduction: Optimised knowledge resources by digitising archives and promoting recycling and energy conservation.

Excellent knowledge management builds good will and better friendships. How? 1️⃣ Fewer turf wars over disputes in knowledge ownership. 2️⃣ More consistent messaging when communicating about artifacts. 3️⃣ Evaluation processes that intentionally include stakeholder feedback to adjust the program.

In a Contemporary Museum project, we did via the following: • Stakeholder Analysis: Conducted surveys & focus groups with artists, curators, and visitors to understand their KM needs & expectations, revealing a desire for collaborative platforms & sustainability initiatives. • SWOT Analysis: Evaluated KM strategy, highlighting strengths like diverse knowledge sharing & opportunities to implement eco-friendly practices. •Logic Model: Mapped inputs (digital archives, online forums), outputs (shared best practices, reduced paper use), outcomes (improved community engagement), & impacts (lower carbon footprint). • Measurement: Tracked metrics like user engagement & energy savings, demonstrating KM’s positive social and environmental effects.

One of the most impactful is telling the story. It will capture you audience and give them insight into the solutions coming out of the collaboration event. It will also help marketing, training, funding, and so much more.

If we have an option - it's always good to perform a pilot - and plan it to be successful. Then, we can find our "embassadors" or "agents of change", so they can share their story, their perspective and enthusiasm - others will want to join in and be part of the success!

People tend to be more willing to learn if they see a personal benefit in the topic you want to transfer. In this case, you should find arguments, why KM is important for each individual. Something like that could be to have more time for individual l&d or to take part in CoP or KM-networking events etc. Something beneficial for the individual that is not of monetary value.
