How often should you update your content writing portfolio?

Every year I update my portfolio! Because every year I take new projects and learn new things! So it is needed to update my content writing portfolio.

It's very important, because in today's time LinkedIn profile speaks a lot about you. It is necessary to get opportunities and relevant connections

Update your content writing portfolio every 3 to 6 months or whenever you complete a significant project or achieve a notable milestone. This keeps your portfolio fresh and demonstrates your current skills and range. Review and potentially remove older pieces that no longer represent your best work or the direction in which your career is headed. This ensures that potential clients or employers see a relevant, up-to-date showcase of your capabilities.

One thing I've found helpful as a content writer is regularly updating my portfolio to showcase my latest work and skills. I update my portfolio based on my goals and client needs at the time. Usually, I aim for an update every 2-6 months to reflect new projects, clients, or specialties. I also add fresh samples that demonstrate my expertise in specific niches or formats (e.g., blog posts, case studies, social media content). The goal is to keep it fresh, and attract more clients and opportunities!

Review your portfolio to see if you are covering as many types of content as possible only if diversity is a part of your copywriter USP. There is nothing wrong with finding your own niché!

I'd say update your portfolio as you upskill, Whenever you take a leap in content writing, make some adjustments to your portfolio, that could just be what gets you your dream paying job.

I like to share my recent articles in my portfolio to keep in sync with the times. I prefer to share live URLs published in my name for trust and credibility. As a writer we evolve pver the years. There is no such thing as a good writer or a bad writer. Each has a unique writing style that may or may not appeal to all. As a writer with over 15 years of experience in the field I would suggest you to stay updated, be aware of the emerging tools in the market, and last but least do not let others define yourself as writer, what you think of yourself is important. Keep writing and sharing your latest work with peace of mind. Try not to get stuck in copying others, maintain your style as this makes your piece authentic
