The photographer can show some reference pictures if they have to the model. Also, they themselves can pose the way, they want the model to be posed. Explaining the model on how to act and pose should be very comfortable and understanding to them. Also, the photographer should be very clear about the concept as well.

I love to set up a scene and then have the person move through the action. Or give them something to think about: think of your favorite place to vacation, eating your favorite food, with your most favorite person. This reaction in their face can be extreme joy to a subtle smile and lift in posture. It's a prompt that work on anyone.

Yes movement is key, getting them comfortable and allowing them to relax in to the space; so that we can both find their most flattering & natural pose possible. I often ask people to do things like walk in to the shot, take their jacket off and then put it back on or even just play with their glasses or cufflinks.
