The most important part of any product interview is to remember before being an interviewee you are a consumer. Till the time a product manager is able to put themselves in the shoes of the consumer and solve problems from the consumer's perspective, there will be impactful products being deployed in the market. For any interviewer, it is crucial to find such candidates, where knowing basics is like the threshold expectation but how far the product manager is engaging with the consumers or the stakeholders who engage with the consumers, like sales and account managers, because the golden rule of business is to build products which are market relevant with innovation, creativity, diligence and resilience as the driving factors

Whenever possible, quantify the impact of your contributions to previous projects. Whether it's improving user engagement metrics, reducing time-to-market, or increasing revenue, quantifiable results demonstrate the effectiveness of your skills and the value you bring to the product development process. Use specific metrics and data-driven examples to showcase your achievements and differentiate yourself from other candidates.

Use the STAR technique: Situation/Task: Brief overview of project/task Action: What did YOU do? Result: What was the outcome and how did that benefit the business? The more you can quantify this (e.g., new product launched with over $20M incremental revenue in first year), the better.

Clearly articulate your product development skills and experiences relevant to the role. Provide specific examples of successful projects or initiatives where you demonstrated your expertise. Align your responses with the company's goals and emphasize how your skills can contribute to their product development objectives.

Develop detailed user personas representing different segments of your target audience. Use these personas to empathize with users' diverse needs, behaviours, and pain points. By personifying your users, you can better understand their perspectives and tailor your product development efforts to address specific user challenges effectively.

Emphasize your ability to innovate and think outside the box when solving product development challenges. Showcase your analytical skills by providing concrete examples of how you've approached problem-solving and decision-making in past projects. Demonstrate your adaptability and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve product excellence.

Highlight your eagerness to continuously learn and grow within the product development domain. Illustrate how you've actively sought out opportunities for skill enhancement and professional development. Express your commitment to leveraging past experiences to improve and contribute effectively to future projects.

Demonstrate Problem-Solving Skills: In addition to showcasing technical abilities, emphasize your problem-solving skills. Describe situations where you identified challenges, devised solutions, and implemented them effectively.
