Antes de iniciar cualquier proceso de integración, si bien es importante enfocarnos en las necesidades inmediatas alineadas con los objetivos estratégicos de la organización (ya sea gestión energética, administración de activos, proyectos, etc.) considero que es clave diagnosticar el grado de madurez digital bajo la cual se desempeña el equipo de Facility Management y en general la organización. Si el grado de madurez es relativamente nula o básica, es mejor trabajar primero en nivelar dichas competencias, antes de invertir en efectuar integraciones que no agregen valor a la compañia. Si, por el contrario el grado de madurez identifica procesos digitalizados (pero aún aislados) podría considerarse un punto de partida para la integración.

Debemos entender que cualquier integración de procesos debe aportar valor a las personas, a los procesos o en los espacios de las instalaciones. Sin perder de vista ese objetivo, y trabajando sobre los procesos que ya tienen cierto nivel de digitalización, nos avocaremos al siguiente reto: determinar cuales son las tecnologías sobre las cuales se desarrollan estos procesos, para identificar complejidades de integración y compatibilidades. Luego del análisis, debemos de tener claro: el valor que aporta esa integración, los riesgos al integrar la tecnología de esos procesos, asi como las necesidades de inversión, los plazos y demás recursos requeridos. En definitiva, esa integración debe hacer sentido para proceder con la implementación.
