One underutilised platform is Artstation. Many creative designers and artists don't maximise this platform. The opportunities are beyond showcasing your work. You can network with others, connect with masters in the industry and also, sell your skills through digital bundles or the inbuilt job portal on there.

Behance is a standard to promote your work and your portfolio. At the very beginning is hard to get noticed but you can use a couple of tricks: 1. Leaving valuable comments in others projects. 2. Defining which aspects of your projects are relevant to outline. As many other social media, Behance has trends that you should notice. The platform never explain which one is the new, but you can analyze which kind of projects are published in the Best of or other galleries. Since last year for example, projects are more picture based with very short texts. It seems more important the visual impact than the explanation.

Because not only will you be hired for the same kind of work but it can also have a negative impact on your career (sell you short).

Find sites where you can post your portfolio on for display. Like behance. And attached your portfolio to any social media platforms you have. And if you don't have any, then make some and attach your portfolio to it

You need to showcase the thinking behind your work in some way. Often the end product does not reflect the skills behind the project.

If you go to events related to graphic design. In most cases you will end up meeting up other designers with their portfolios. You might get a prospect but you would be competing with all other designers… the customer will most likely opt for the cheapest option. I don’t find this sustainable unless you are attending for collaborations. I would rather suggest you to attend exhibitions, events, trade shows that are outside your industry, coz you can meet prospects directly. Limited competition at the venue. You will be heard and be seen. Offer tons value to those people around you and you have a higher chances of closing more deals. So the events doesn’t have to be complimentary to your services, to be capitalised on. Thanks

Best and fastest way to build connection is attending offline events, seminar, conferences. You can boost your visibility and build long lasting relationship with people.

Yes, I think we can and should network using our graphic design portfolio, especially in the twilight of the networks that used to be social. I believe that designers, artists and content creators in general have put a lot of effort into cultivating our creative profiles on social networks that no longer have anything "social" about them and that in fact it would benefit us more when it comes to networking and connections to use alternative platforms where our portfolios are appreciated by colleagues and potential clients or collaborators and not manipulated by algorithms that demand a level of frequency, trendiness and averageness that is completely unrealistic for someone who is not 100% devoted to being an influencer.

I think building communities and collaborations in our creative industries is essential to creating value for all of us. Value in the work we do and what we contribute to our societies and value in the work we do in an economic sense. In the world where there is every type of designer everywhere, all at once, and advanced technologies changing the way we all work, it will be connection and community that is key. Sharing and connecting through portfolios can only be a positive thing for our industry.
