People follow people more than a piece of paper. So if you have a coach who can help you articulate, verbalize and feel your vision, your purpose of doing the course, chances are you will definitely try to complete it at the earliest.

L’andragogie permet de comprendre comment un adulte apprend. One way I usually start a coaching/review session is to address the "elephant" in the room- fear. Many new grads facing their initial certification are asking themselves challenging questions. " What if I fail! When can I retake the exam? How many times can I retake it? Can I get a job contingent on passing the exam? " The presence of anxiety and fear of test taking must be immediately addressed before attacking the "mechanics" of the test itself. Folks who are unable to hear tips, teaching points and topical review will not successfully respond to coaching /test preparation.

🎖️To set smart goals we can setting a goal to study for five hours every day might not be achievable. Instead, setting a goal to study for one hour each evening might be more realistic and practice exams or completing a set number of practice questions each week or setting a goal to complete all practice exams and review sessions two weeks before the actual exam date provides a clear timeline for preparation.

Before you set a goal. Look at a vision for your life, business, relationships, finances health. What’s important for you! Get a feeling for that vision and work on that every day. The goal is a spotlight on the vision. Pick 1 personal and 1 professional goal. Work on seeing the vision daily and the feeling you would feel if you achieved that. Goals aren’t just for getting they’re there for you own growth and expansion. If you fail keep going persist! If the goal doesn’t scare you it’s not worthy of you!

You have to always provide feedback and support to your learners. This is so that they can better themselves accordingly. You should provide the feedback after you have assessed them. This is so that you can give the feedback according to their strengths and weaknesses. You should also provide them with support. This is because without support, they might not be motivated enough to go on with their studies.

Part of feedback giving is 'deep listening' - a powerful tool to mirror, summarize or paraphrase words, emotions, guestures and body language observed - as they are all part of our communication. Too often we solemnly focus on the words said! Also personal opinions are not included when 'deep listening' is applied. Only if the feedback receiver proactively asks for support to change their behavior, resources are shared. Contrary open questions (questions you cannot answer with 'yes' or 'no') are used to go beyond the first answer and dig deep for insight and awareness - you want to make the other person share all information related and understand profoundly.

Feedback is important, but not in the sense of giving the learner your opinion. Feedback is about listening to the learner, be a sounding board to their worries and goals. Provide your expertise only if you get consent from the learner.

To provide feedback and support we can serve as an opportunity for learners to ask questions, seek clarification, or discuss any difficulties they may be experiencing and monitor progress towards these goals and adjust as needed based on performance and feedback.

Contrairement à ce qu’on entend souvent j’aime dire que le feedback n’a pas de pôle positif ou négatif. Il doit être objectif et guider l’apprenant vers la réussite. À mon avis pour que la rétroaction soit efficace elle doit partir des données fournies par l’apprenant et indiquer ce qui lui manque pour atteindre le niveau attendu ou simplement pour s’améliorer! La rétroaction doit être la plus précise possible afin qu’on puisse visualiser concrètement ce qui doit être fait. On veut se rapprocher d’une objectivité afin de guider vers l’atteinte du but l’apprenant. Il doit pouvoir voir concrètement les étapes qu’il lui reste a mettre en place pour réussir!

This is so that you would know whether they can understand the way you are coaching or not. After that, you have to adjust your coaching accordingly. For example, if you find that your learner is weak in essays, you should then coach him/her more on essays.

Debemos estar muy claros de que en la educación de adultos cada uno tiene un nivel distinto de conocimientos y experiencias, por lo tanto su forma de percibir el nuevo conocimiento que está adquiriendo es distinto en cada uno de las personas. Un buen coach debe analizar cuidadosamente el avance en cada uno de ellos y poder plantear ejemplos o desafíos acordes a su nivel de expectativa, para eso la interacción permanente es indispensable pues es la forma de medir nuestro nivel de “llegada” al adulto y hacer nuestros propios ajustes.

Review of the learners work and performance is key and can be done alongside the milestones set at the beginning. The exercise is of importance for both learner and coach to understand how they understood the process. Reflection should be practiced regularly to understand the learners experience.

Personally I prefer to study during the morning, but maybe I can re-think in the afternoon or the day after to what I studied. With time and following some suggestion it is normal to find the most suitable way for each one to success.

Es bueno para el alumno que percibe sus progresos y sus falencias; también sus actuales necesidades y se siente partícipe de su formación. Es bueno para nosotros porque también evaluamos nuestro aciertos y errores en el acompañamiento y nos permite corregir el rumbo si es preciso en función de sus necesidades.

Como coach podemos ajudar o aluno a manter-se responsável pelo seu progresso, estabelecendo check-ins regulares e oferecendo suporte e incentivo ao longo do caminho, mas também é preciso ajudar o aluno a manter-se motivado e confiante, fornecendo feedback construtivo, reconhecendo conquistas e trabalhando para superar obstáculos. Além do aspecto técnico do estudo, se possível, podemos sugerir técnicas de preparação mental, como visualização positiva e meditação, para ajudar o aluno a se sentir mais preparado e confiante no dia do exame.

Adult learner’s courses are need based, hence it doesn’t require great motivation but appropriate teaching tools and methods will promote effective and fast learning.

One thing I have found helpful with adult learners is going over the basics of whatever knowledge it is to be tested. This kind of students are usually experts in many fields and have learned to dissimulate their knowledge gaps and they can even carry them out with professionalism. However, for test preparation making them aware of their basic mistakes will definitely boost their meta cognitive understanding of the new information and they can relearn easily this way! Nevertheless, it is one of the most challenging states for learners as they need to relearn information that had already been encrypted in their brains. It’s also important to teach them to have a good sense of humor and treat themselves kindly when relearning.
