So that every crew member knows what and what to do and when to do it

As my grandfather always told me, "You attract more bees with honey than vinegar". Especially on a busy and hectic film set, anger is an easy emotion to use. Quick and firm in voice, tone, and manner is often the go to in an emergency. Often however, we couple that with frustration and annoyance. If you can lessen frustration, annoyance, or anger in the moment you will find people are much quicker to make changes. It helps to keep the set from feeling tense and allows for faster turn around. It also lets people feel like mistakes are correctable. We often mislabel forced or callous mistakes with random mistakes. If people feel like the making of a mistake is not the end of the world, they are better about acknowledging and correcting them.

Developing good interpersonal communication skills is essential, especially on set when hours are long and demands are high. Problem-solving can bring out people's frustrations, so being open and receptive in communicating when warranted and decisive when needed, is something experience will teach you over time.
