How do you maintain a professional relationship with other emcees after an event?

Being a community activist for those who have no voice I am encouraged to tell my story of how I got to be in this nonprofit organization world. I specialized in communication and networking is key. After an event, I introduce myself and give my business cards along with offering my bio to send to them. This details every aspect of what I have acquires during the building of my mission and vision. It is important to be transparent and open to collaborating with others.

It also important to recognize and appreciate the work of the other emcees' teammates. By recognizing the positive efforts of all teammates, it can help synthesize teams and collaborative efforts by demonstrating how each individual effort contributed to an event's overall success

As an emcee, it is important to feel appreciated and acknowledged for all the hard work and research that is put into ensuring the script is done right, the salutations are pronounced correctly, engagements with the audience and the panellists are seamless— of course there may be hiccups, but a well-prepared emcee is always a win-win. It encourages the emcee to do better every time and the next. By building closer rapport and being professionally friendly with the emcee, they will almost never take you for granted. In fact, they can be a source of network that you may not have had access to, previously.

One thing I've found helpful is by sending a thank you email to other emcees for all the support and their involvement.It does helps create an everlasting pleasant impression in their subconscious minds'. I also couldn't agree more that it does shows our gratitude and professionalism.

I've often found that staying in touch via social media with fellow emcees can allow for other opportunities for them and yourself. I have referred people to other potential gigs where their skill set might be more applicable to said event.

Linkedin would be a fantabulous example to add to this. I have seen my professional network grow qualitatively as I make a concerted effort to stay in touch.

It's been a while since I have taken assignments as a professional emcee. But when I did, and had to co-host with someone. I would have a joint meeting where we would share notes, divide segments and decide whether we co-host all the way or host segments. We would also try to match energy levels and communication style for the overall event experience not to seem jarring.

It is rare for Emcees to work at the same event. There are exceptions, like when you are invited to co-host an awards show. This is why it is important to: 🎤 Attend an event one of your associate Emcees is hosting. 🎤 If you are coming up as an Emcee, "shadow" a more experienced Master of Ceremonies (with their approval of course). Watch. Observe. Learn. Share a meal after the event to discuss. 🎤 When you can't be together at a meeting, record your Emcee work. Forward your footage to your fellow MC. Watch each other in action. Then offer positive feedback and insights for improvement. The Emcee community is growing! There is more work than any one of us can handle. So, let's support each other with valuable feedback...and friendships.
