Best approach to becoming a motivational speaker is to do the work first. Be an operator of a business or an expert in a craft. That experience provides the foundation and credibility to motivate others. Heck, being a leader in a business requires public speaking and motivation. Can’t get better preparation than that.

Just look at Tony Robbins. He yells too much. But, other than that, he puts it out there. He gives people hope. He inspires people. People are mainly feeding off his high energy and optimism. Other than that, it's pretty much smoke and mirrors. And he makes a fortune. So, yes, it's a great business if you have the moxie.
