Often overlooked step. Have mentors and life coaches across different disciplines (that are still related to design) AND identify their function. There are three types of mentors I believe to be essential: 1. Career Mentor (a person who is in the exact role you aspire to be in and guides/aids you through decision-making) 2. Challenger Mentor (a person who will challenge you to think big, often unreserved with feedback, and pushes you past potential) 3. Reverse mentor (a person who is in a lower position/title but often provides valuable insight) There are several styles of mentorship out there. Oftentimes, you may find yourself in contact with one mentor more than the other depending on what stage you are in your growth cycle.
