What are some ways to get graphic design experience while still in school?

Well not everyone like to join a club for social reason, probably introvert doesn't like it for obvious reason. But believe this, design club or community is good for you. Not only you gain the others perspective but you can see various design that different from your own style. Even you gain some tips & trick also motivation from others. Joining a graphic design club during my university years was a game-changer for my career. The collaborative projects and workshops provided hands-on experience, while the connections I made opened doors to freelance opportunities.

Quando entrei para um clube de design na escola, participei da criação de uma marca com colegas. Trabalhamos juntos para desenvolver a identidade visual de uma marca fictícia para um novo produto. Foi uma experiência enriquecedora, aprendendo a colaborar, integrar diferentes perspectivas e criar algo único. Receber feedback e orientação ajudou a aprimorar nossas ideias e técnicas, proporcionando valiosos insights sobre design e trabalho em equipe.

Nowadays with quick programs like Canva and Adobe Express. Build a community based around those in the school. Experimenting with different styles and gestures could open up new experiences.

The challenges pushed my creativity, and winning or even just participating bolstered my confidence. The recognition gained from these competitions became a valuable addition to my portfolio and resume, opening doors to future opportunities.

Personalmente, antes de tener un trabajo de diseñador gráfica y a veces durante para explorar y trabajar en mi creatividad he realizado diversos proyectos personales sin encargo alguno. Mi propia marca personal, proyectos para amigos o conocidos, líneas ficticias de maquillaje... Trataba de coger un tipo de proyecto que me apasionara y resolverlo gráficamente para poner toda la carne en el asador. Esto me valdría en el futuro para añadirlo a mi portfolio,

I strongly recommend anyone to volunteer. In the realm of graphic design, particularly, there's lots that can be done to improve one's impact on the internet and help that organization to grow. I would say anyone working as a volunteer with graphic design is actually hitting the jackpot in terms of what can be achieved while on the path to grow its own portfolio: giving back to the community with volunteer activities and showcasing its skills. It can't go wrong!

Algunos cursos de plataformas como Domestika u Udemy, que son de mis favoritas a la vez que te enseñan creas un proyecto que luego puede servirte tanto para practicas y desarrollar nuevas habilidades como para incluir en tu portfolio.

well tutorial and online course not always work for you, but every course and tutor that you take will have a certain impact in your design, it will not always a good thing right away because as you know all things need progress, especially design. So learn as much as you need, because you'll never know but in the future you at least prepare for it.

For me, the most impactful and make me want to learn more.. is a hot impactful and hurt critique. For we as designer who create something will like our own design, because me make it ourself. But because we make it ourself our jugdement sometime clouded with some typical excuses and so make our review a little bit bias, while other people will review it without our perspective and that make it works. Even if our design take many critique and feedback, it's doesn't mean that what we make is bad.. but it can be better and a little note, not every critique is true, sometime you need review the feedback too. So don't be sad and sorry for yourself after you hear some mean comment.. but be better
