(edited)The key to fostering personal connection is very simple. Tailor each new hire's onboarding experience to their individual needs and engage with them throughout virtual orientations and other mandatory meetings. This ensures that each candidate feels seen, heard, and welcomed, fostering a positive and productive work culture.

To foster a sense of personal connection during virtual onboarding, start by creating a welcoming environment through personalized greetings and introductions. Use video calls to facilitate face-to-face interactions, allowing new hires to meet team members in a relaxed setting. Incorporating icebreakers and team-building activities can also help build rapport and encourage camaraderie. 🎥🤗 Additionally, assign mentors or buddies to guide new hires during their onboarding journey. This pairing can provide support and answer questions in real time, making them feel more included and valued. Regular check-ins and feedback sessions will further enhance their experience, ensuring they feel connected and engaged from the start. 👫💬

The first 3 weeks is super critical which leaves a lasting impression about the Organization and team with new hires. We should ensure that the new hire gets introduced to all team members (virtually and on site) upfront and within the first 2-3 days which establishes early connections and integration to the team. Having a buddy assigned from day one who is preferably in the same location helps a lot in easing the onboarding of the new hire. Regular weekly checkins by the manager ensures to keep track of progress and support requirements of the new hire. Having a good process depository (documentation/ flow charts) to provide clarity on all work tasks helps in addition to trainings around WOW’s Connect, support, coach, network, guide, train
