Program delays can be due to various reasons such as: 1. Client dependencies 2. Unrealistic timelines committed 3. Assumptions made during planning not being accurate The best way to deal with it is to openly communicate internally within the team, focus on what we can do to speed up where possible, prepare a realistic action plan which is openly communicated with the client, take their sign off. There will always be disagreements, so it is necessary to be transparent and try to find middle ground which is acceptable to all parties. Also, if delays are due to resources not having the right skills, highlight it early so that it can be addressed sooner rather than later.
