This is a great way to ask behavioural and situation-based questions. These questions would provide the testament to tap into the potential of the candidate in a given situation. To do that, the interviewer needs to know and understand the current projects, challenges, and culture of the organization. Similarly, it is also important for the candidate to research the company to find out the critical skills required for the position.

Review your resume in detail to reflect on past experiences and accomplishments then write down all small and big accomplishments as a way to help refresh your memory and help the conversation/examples flow during the interview. Lead with authencity and be yourself!

The STAR Technique will help you segment your response to keep it clear and concise as to what and how you demonstrate your understanding of the question to your experience. This technique will also help the recruiter and panel members connect with the complexity of your scenario and gauge your mindset or approach to the resolution. Just remember, don't overthink it! You are assessing them as much as they are assessing you!

The STAR technique will help you ace your interview. This format allows you to highlight your achievements. Lets say you're applying for a leadership role and the panel wants to understand your leadership competency. Ask yourself the following questions and provide a specific example: Situation: Where did you lead? Task: What task were you required to do as a leader? Action: How did you go about doing this task? Result: What was the outcome of that task? This technique produces excellent results and the panel will have clarity on your level of competence as a leader.

Be specific about what you did, how you did it, and why you chose that approach. 4.Result: Share the outcome of your actions. What were the results or achievements? Quantify whenever possible and highlight any lessons learned.

This is a great method. Where I see people struggle is keeping their story straight with the STAR method. They tend to jump around. The trick is to say the words in your answer to keep you consistent. The situation was X. My task was Y. The action plan I implemented was Z and the results was a decrease in waste by 17%.

For each competency, prepare specific examples from your past experiences that demonstrate your proficiency. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses.

Articulate Growth and Relevance: Clearly explain how your experiences have contributed to your personal and professional growth. Connect these experiences to the job you're applying for, proving you have the skills and expertise required.

It’s important to reflect and relate to make your answers less scripted and more personal. The prerequisite to this though is RESEARCH. Always thoroughly research the company you are interviewing with so that your answers are relevant. Relate to the company vision/ethos and find out about your interviewers background if you can, you may have some common ground to build rapport and be remembered.

Your own story is the best thing to pull from in an interview. Reflect on examples from your career and how different situations have you the skills or knowledge and experience that are needed for the job.

Focus on examples that are most relevant to the job you're interviewing for. Tailor your responses to highlight the competencies that are most important for the role.

The best practice would be to share similar experiences and relating the same to the job requirements of the position one has applied for. In most of the cases, the interviewers want to know if the candidate has had similar project experiences, because that way one can reflect and prove that they have the required skillsets and live experiences of what the company is looking for. Talking about a few examples and relating them to the present challenges give by the interviewer would anyway help in evaluating a candidates credibility and expertise.

Practicing or roll playing with a friend or family member is a great way to get your thoughts out loud! Interviewing isn’t easy but with some practice with questions you struggle with you will get more and more confident!

I’ve encountered so many CVs where candidates have listed their competencies, making it look like a job description, rather than an actual proof of skills. I believe it is so important to highlight the accomplishments in a job, by providing real examples of situations, or quantifiable achievements. It is also important to be specific in the provided examples, to share information about what you have learned from those situations.

The interviewer is interested in learning more about you. Listen carefully to what is asked, be specific in your answer. Candidates, often, are either to vague in their response or they are so eager to share information that they get lost in their response - say a lot, but do not answer what was actually asked.

When answering competency-based questions, be specific about the situation, the actions you took, and the results you achieved. Provide quantifiable results whenever possible to showcase your accomplishments.

When answering situational questions be sure to include the outcome or result, the lessons learned and how you used this situation to improve in the future. If you have any doubt that you have fully satisfied the question, don’t leave it to the interviewer to dive deeper, ask them, if you have fully satisfied their question. If the interviewer isn’t satisfied with the initial answer, this is when they will let you know.

Primary questions alone are not enough to gauge a candidate's suitability. Follow-up questions serve as extensions to the primary questions and are essential for gaining more in-depth insight into a candidate's experience, skills, and qualities. Consider the most common questions that the interviewer may ask you based on your STAR answer, * How you measured the impact of your action? * What are your key takeaways from this situation * How you dealt with challenges whilst implementing the solution * How you collaborated with others or got key stakeholder buy in Be sure to have a brief and relevant answer ready for each question that ties back to your main STAR story and highlights your skills and achievements relevant to the job.

One thing I've found helpful is being honest in each word in the interview session. Give concrete examples of what you did. Be specific and to the point.

At the end of the interview, if given the opportunity, ask questions that demonstrate your interest in the role and further showcase your competencies.

Make sure you do your research on the company, their competitors and the people you are speaking with. Check out the company's newsfeed, social media posts and especially the interviewer's social media presence, including any articles or speaking engagements. Weave what you have learned into the conversation, that demonstrates you are interested in the company and the role.

I advise candidates to share a key accomplishment that is relative to the job opening they are interviewing for as well. This allows the interviewers to not only hear a success story about their experience but also to better understand candidate motives and what makes them tick, so to speak. You can glean out the areas that they hold in a high regard whether that be saving a company money, team work, leadership skills, personal praise etc.
