To excel as a facility manager, effective communication with all stakeholders is critical to achieve results. When you enhance communication with the stakeholder such as tenants, vendors and the landlord, concerned issues will be closed out timely and everybody will understand what is going on in the facility and understand their role in order to ensure progress is sustained in the facility.

Life and Safety has to be and is the number one priority for any facility. If it is not, it is time to change it. There is absolutely no reason to short cut or short change safety practices and training.

Health and Safety is key to driving good facility management targets. Having a good Health and Safety policy with strong leadership support in terms of resources and physical presence is needed to drive a sustainable facility. Risk assessments are carried out regularly to identify potential risk in the facility and changes that could have occurred due to redesign or retrofitting of an apartment or building. This will enable the facility manager to mitigate against potential hazards and put in adequate control measures. Emergency control measures should also be put in place.

Tenemos que asegurarnos que todos los miembros de las áreas de servicios que sean inherentes al FM, tengan conocimientos básicos de seguridad, que conozcan y se interesen por las instalaciones y que incluyan en sus rutinas, observar todo, mas allá de su scope.

Contagiar la vocación de servicio. Por ejemplo, levantar un papel del piso no es función o terea de un FM, pero si de parte de su equipo. Al levantarlo nosotros y tirarlo donde corresponde, habilitamos al resto a que tome una misma posición en virtud y compromiso al servicio.
