TRUST THEM before anything else. 1. Define virtual boundaries - Work to establish goals and timelines at the start of the quarter 2. Weekly/Fortnightly Cadence - Work with your team to establish a structure of cadence calls and adhere to it 3. Avoid unnecessary meetings - Key is to reduce as much frill as possible 4. Be available - Working alone at home can be taxing, ensure you are there to listen and support your team members wherever you can 5. Fun!! - It is important to create a culture of happiness, people should look forward to the 8-9 hours they would want to spend at work. Do team catchups, I see socializing with everyone could help.

Covid set the stage for what it means to have to bond virtually. It was new and exciting, yet placed a major mind shift on what it meant to be "together". Eating lunch together, zoom hangouts while you continue your work, turning your camera on, having moments to share family members, animals, and other ideas have worked well for my teams.

I always run things for my team like lunch and learns, virtual quizzes and casual coffees. This helps supports bonding.

Goal alignment is a must in every working environment. If you set a goal and don't follow it religiously, you might be deviated from the goal, although you are working very hard. Goal should be broken in small targets with deadline to meet. If small pieces of goals are achieved, things are going well. Every fortnightly or as per the requirement, one should analyse and make sure that the team is not deviated from the goal.

Job satisfaction goes hand in hand with a feeling of belonging & recognition. People are different and so is what drives and motivates them. Hence, it’s important to offer a wide range of reward options and adjust them accordingly. Some enjoy positive reinforcements, such as shout outs for achieving a goal or great work, verbal affirmations & positive feedback, or financial incentives for when certain metrics are hit. Others prefer a more competitive environment to stay motivated and like to be rewarded by winning a competition and receive a prize (eg. voucher, day off, gift). However, what is most important is to create a culture of appreciation for one another. If people don’t feel valued or appreciated, no reward will make them stay.

Sometimes work can be easily missed in a remote setting. This is why it’s vital to give shout out on team channels and enjoy all achievements are called out in all hands meetings.

The idea of recognition culture is a vital concept in the corporate world. This means rewarding and appreciating employees for their hard work, which may result in greater job satisfaction and higher employee commitment1. The following are some ways of creating a culture of recognition at work. Showing gratitude: Taking time to thank employees for their hard work and dedication. Celebrating achievements: Holding events or meetings to celebrate individual and collective successes. Publicly recognizing: Using team meetings or company bulletins to acknowledge staff contributions. Incentives provision: Inculcation of programs that reward exceptional performance.

Boundaries and trust are key here. I trust my team to do their job. That trust doesn’t need to be earned it is given. If that means they start early and finish early that’s absolutely fine (only caveat is respecting regular cadence meetings). I encourage my teams to also set clear boundaries and not work outside of work hours and take regular breaks.

I encouraged our team to strictly log off by 6 PM, promoting work-life balance.
