In a related vein, consistently ensure that 20% of your bandwidth is devoted towards tackling tech debt. This will organically surface and force conversations around modernizing the stack.

In my observation, the start for devops is not easy as it requires a mindset change at first place and thereby breaking down teams to small numbers and applications to micro-service or nano-services. Such examples are not limited to automatic provision of resources, scaling of infrastructure based on demand, better health checks and cost optimization on resource consumption.

Cloud services are being used for about 15+ yrs now. All I'd say is that if a company has not yet moved its infrastructure to Cloud platform, then it will have big challenge catching up in AI and GenAI era.

Use what is useful. Do not make infusing new technology a goal in and of itself. Too often tech teams find a tech they want to use and retroactively find a justification. Know the tech, know the use cases. When they apply then use it, but please don't just make a change because it's "new" and end up spending months just to be where are you are functionally (which is what actually matters) only with new tech.
