Divine intervention says “It had to happen” the exact way it did. There is no happenstance with occurrences, everything happens for a reason and/or a season…so start believing! Often times the crushing power of failure can create a new person, new being, or new way of living. Embrace what God is attempting to do in you, for the greater good of your life and others as well. A wise man once said, “I haven’t failed, I have just found hundreds of ways that don’t work.” It all starts in your mind, shift your hermeneutical approach through pivoting in your mind.

Overcoming Setbacks in Educational Leadership 1.Learn from setbacks: Analyze the situation, identify causes, and seek feedback. Research successful strategies and commit to continuous learning. 2.Maintain a growth mindset: Focus on progress and build resilience. 3.Turn setbacks into growth: Develop a plan to address issues and build a support network of colleagues. Setbacks are opportunities to become a stronger leader.

REDEFINE FAILURE It's important to understand that in case of encountering failure, the ideal course of action could be revisit the situation and analyse what went wrong and what could be the corrective steps forward. But in reality, whenever we fail, we get denuded of all rationality and we are unable to have a critical view of the situation. To my mind, our society gives undue importance to success and failure is often treated as pariah, it is high time we realised that failure is as important as success. The change in our attitude would help us to deal with failure better!

Failure is a highly emotional experience. When you grow to become your own coach instead of a critic then you’re ready to learn from your mistakes and advance.

It is important to invest in good relationships who you can then trust to seek feedback from. It can also help to send out feedback surveys to seek areas of improvement from the team.

FEEDBACK NOT ENOUGH In the corporate corridors, it has become rather a fashion to ask for a feedback. Feedback has no relevance if we are not willing to accept the feedback. In real life, things happen differently. It was only yesterday, I gave feedback to a friend, who is a Professor. Thereafter, everything went for a toss. Relationship became bitter and all my guidance and tutelage was forgotten in a Jiffy. To conclude, seeking or giving any feedback will be meaningless if we are not ready to introspect and act on the Feedback!

Never be wedded to one path or strategy. Often leaders come with ideas or strategies they have seen work in other schools, apply them, and then try to force it to fit. Every school is unique, things aren’t always going to work the same way, so listen to staff and don’t be scared to admit things aren’t working and change direction

Adjusting yourself after making mistakes is vital for preventing total failure. Recognizing and learning from errors allows you to refine your strategies and approaches. This adaptability prevents small setbacks from escalating into larger failures. By analyzing what went wrong and implementing changes, you can enhance your skills and decision-making processes. Such continual improvement not only mitigates future risks but also boosts overall performance and resilience, key for long-term success.

Understanding the cause of any failures we encounter in our career journey must be analyzed carefully so that we shall not repeat the same mistakes again. Learning from these mistakes will also make us better academics to encounter any challenges that will come our way in the future.

Le renforcement de notre résilience face à l'échec est l'une des clés pour transformer les défis, les difficultés en succès . Pour cela il faut avoir une bonne estime de soi et faire attention à sa santé psychologique pour ne pas perdre la motivation.

Failures that will come in the way of an academic will make the academic resilient to face any challenges. In my opinion, getting the best out of one’s failures will give them the determination and will power to succeed and reach greater heights in one’s career journey.

What has worked for me personally is becoming resilient and not allowing a setback pull me down. As much as it is important to keep yourself occupied with upskilling, it becomes extremely difficult to keep one's mental strength to keep going when the chips are down. Do not let anything pull you down. Talk to your family or anyone you are close to. Emotional support is important. I always believe that giving up is failure. So, keep the chin up, fight back and come back stronger when things do not go the right way and let your lessons be a learning for others who maybe facing a same concern.

CONDUCIVE WORK CULTURE Today, life is torn apart by trauma and tention. Everyone is facing one challenge or the other. Against this background, we must realise the importance of contributing to building a conductive Work Culture, where mutual cooperation can be a driving force for all. This alone appears to be the Road Ahead!
