How can you keep clients coming back to your Life Coaching business?

My goal is to help people learn techniques to achieve whatever goal they are after. I’d love to be able to help someone once and see them flourish in all areas. However, there may be times when help is needed in multiple spaces. As one engagement is ending it’s fair to ask what else they may need help with. This is transition can lead to extended coaching because of the ROI they’ve received from you.

You cannot take your clients where you have never been. I believe the best way to keep clients coming back to your coaching business is to keep growing. When you have more growth personally, you will continue to add value even to your existing clients. Without this - you will find your life coaching business stagnating.

By providing a safe space for my clients to open up and share their challenges, it helps with laying the foundation to build trust and rapport, which are the cornerstone of life coaching. Without trust, there cannot be a partnership. It is important to be able to create a synergy, that keeps my clients and me motivated to show up for every session. Where I can then be fully present and actively listening to try understand the needs and goals of my clients. The ability to grasp not only the words but also the emotions and nuances in how my clients communicate, helps me read in between lines and ask powerful questions to support them and guide them in their quest.

As a coach I quickly work to build trust with my clients. It’s important they know I’m here for them and that I will not judge or reveal content from our conversations to others. Building rapport also strengthens your connection with them and can lead to referrals because of their pleasant experience with you.

Coaching is fundamentally a partnership where coach and client work collaboratively. There is no place for hierarchy in coaching. Coach is not here to dictate direction or enforce progress, but rather to accompany client on their journey, offering support and tools essential for the client's self-determination and self-awareness. It's important to remember that development is not linear. There may be many moments of doubt or so-called "steps back", but they are part of the process. Instead of treating them as failures, we should see them as opportunities for learning and growth. Coach and client celebrate successes together, remembering that every step, regardless of direction, is part of the journey 🧭🗺️

Offering up adhoc meetings and allowing email communication is a great way to help stay connected between sessions. This feels more relational and less transactional therefore the client experience will be positively impacted.

It’s my joy to get feedback from clients. If there’s something I could do better I want to know. I also ask for a recommendation based on their experience and outcome. Again community is important so letting my clients speak to my network is something I long for.

Life coaching is not about creating dependency or repeat customers. It's about empowering someone to take ownership of their life and equip them with the right tools and techniques that will allow them to maintain healthy habits and stay motivated and focused to achieve their personal + professional goals. While I have clients come back for 1:1 sessions once every few weeks to touch base or want clarity with a new challenge, my objective as a coach is to empower my clients to become self-reliant through my 3-6 months programs and provide them with lifetime skills to deal with challenges. Clients have referred their spouses, friends and colleagues to my services which has of course been amazing. The word of mouth support speaks volumes.
