Technology is moving fast. To stay on top, both, recruiters and candidates have to adjust to this fast-changing job market. As a recruiter with a lot on your table, it is easy to get into a routine. This may work well in the short term, but consider this: the industry is constantly changing. If you look back at the life of a recruiter in 1995, it is nothing like it is today. The biggest change is the availability of Recruiting Management Systems, which are intended to make the whole process easier. However, the human factor is still involved in the final decision, which means that recruiters still have massive responsibility in recruiting processes.

IT market always has its own mark of emerging new trends. Recently AI brought great transitions. Thing is, how good we are paced with this transformation. Nowadays, in hiring we have AI tools, ATS, Automated chatbots etc...but the knowledge comparatively less We need to drive this skill gaps with factors like continues knowledge gain, certifications, deep diving into technical world through web. Soft skills such as communication gain prominence alongside technical proficiency. Niche specializations like AI and cybersecurity are in high demand. One of the positive spin-offs that the COVID triggerred was to force employers to think of optimising the talent by allowing them to work at places other than the earlier accepted norms! Technology was always there, but it was the mindset that got changed. If earlier talent had to go where the opportunity was, now we are increasingly seeing the companies are open to considering opportunities where the talent is!! This, I feel is allowing democratization of talent globally. It is no longer needed to have a critical mass of a certain number of employees for companies to access the right talent Especially in IT, we can now expand the net to the best available talent globally - rather than restrict ones to the best available locally!

When I was helping to build the technical support group at VMware, we hit a roadblock finding Linux Systems Administrators who had both the technical chops and service skills we needed. We had to get creative and started looking for people with foundational OS knowledge, and also showed curiosity, a knack for solving problems, and most importantly, were keen on growing their skill set. This strategy paid off, allowing us to develop a robust team that not only met our immediate needs but also evolved with the organization.

I think remote work always has been a "thing" within IT. It was not new in relation to the pandemic, as it was to other industry's. But I think the focus on the individual is more present than ever before, because who decides what your best working conditions are? That must be decided as a collaboration between management and the employee. I might be biased, but especially within IT we have people which social life depends a lot upon the worklife - the line between the two are not that thick. Therefore management must be very much aware of the well being, of these individuals, if they make remote work mandatory (to save money on office space etc.) We used Slack both for work but also in subgroups for fun topics.
