A good leader builds flexibility into their team by decentralizing decision maker to the lowest level that is appropriate for that decision. You get there by ensuring you have built a great Culture and everyone understands that, you train people to the standards you plan to hold them to, you give a very clear vision of what you want done in order to reach your vision for the organization, you give them the resources they need, give them the Authority to make it happen and then you GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. That is how you encourage CREATIVITY in your organization.

One thing I think is essential is to stay connected to your team. When I say "connected," I don't mean just on a professional level; I mean truly connecting with the whole person. It is in this way that you can understand their needs, dreams, talents, struggles, and hopes, which are often surprisingly intertwined with our own paths. It takes time and commitment, however this kind of connection leads us to evolve both as individuals and as a team.
