"The strong inclination of Gen Z towards in-store experiences suggests a vibrant opportunity for retail brands to revitalize and innovate within their physical spaces." This is one of many great nuggets of info in Marianne Wilson's recent Chain Store Age write-up about Gen Z's preference for shopping in-store. In a recent survey of 2,411 domestic consumers conducted by 2 Visions, more than 30% of all Gen Z respondents indicated in-store shopping as their preference, more than any other generation. What's more, when asked about their satisfaction with recent in-store shopping experiences, an impressive 76% of Gen Z respondents reported "exceptionally high satisfaction." Given that Gen Z is comprised entirely of digital natives, it's easy to assume they'd be more likely to shop online than other generations, yet this data runs contrary to that assumption.
