🌍 The Global Accelerator Lab (GALAB), funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (Bureau of International Labor Affairs), is transforming lives in Ondo State, Nigeria, through targeted health insurance awareness campaigns. 🤝 These initiatives empower vulnerable communities, especially cocoa farmers, informal workers, and households affected by child labour, with vital information on accessing health coverage. 🍫 In Nigeria’s largest cocoa-producing state, these efforts are tackling poverty and child labour by connecting families to essential healthcare services. ✨ Through collaboration with local organisations and community leaders, over 800 individuals have been reached, inspiring a future of improved livelihoods and well-being. 💪 By addressing systemic barriers, the GALAB project is not just reducing child labour but building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.

International Labour Organization is proud to support Nigerian communities through the Global Accelerator Lab (GALAB) project, funded by U.S. Department of Labor, to promote healthcare access and combat #ChildLabour. 💡 This initiative is transforming lives by increasing health insurance enrolment among vulnerable cocoa farmers and informal workers in Ondo State, Nigeria 🇳🇬. 🤝 Together with local partners like the Ondo State Government and CFAN, the ILO is ensuring communities understand the life-changing benefits of health coverage. 📈 The impact is already being felt, with families now able to safeguard their futures and focus on improving their livelihoods without the burden of healthcare costs. Through collaboration and empowerment, GALAB is paving the way for healthier, safer, and more sustainable communities in Nigeria.

Congratulations to the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC/CPCO) and the FCWC Conference of Ministers on the historic regional adoption of the #Protocol on Labour Standards for Crew and the Elimination of #ForcedLabour on #Fishing Vessels in the Fisheries Committee for the West Central Gulf of the Guinea Region. The International Labour Organization was pleased to support this meeting and join remotely to speak about #DecentWork in #fishing. International migrants: A vital force in the global labour market 🌍 In 2022, they made up 4.7% of the global labour force, with most employed in high-income countries and key sectors like services and care provision. The latest ILO Global Estimates on International Migrant Workers reveal that 167.7 million migrant workers were part of the labour force in their destination countries. Among them, 102.7 million were men and 64.9 million were women, reflecting a significant gender divide. The report also highlights that 68.4% of migrant workers were concentrated in high-income countries, while 17.4% were in upper-middle-income countries. Since 2013, the number of migrant workers has increased by over 30 million, with most of this growth occurring between 2013 and 2019. 📢Ahead of #MigrantsDay, discover our latest findings: https://ow.ly/YMtT50UrBYP
