Single room occupancy housing (SRO) is a crucial part of Pittsburgh affordable housing network. Read 90.5 WESA’s article on how SROs are key to helping house the region’s lowest-income residents. “It is a really important part of our affordable housing system,” said Lena Andrews, CEO of nonprofit ACTION Housing, which has been involved in redeveloping and managing a number of local SROs. We are grateful for the partnerships that have enabled us to help provide over 500 SROs across the region, including Centre Avenue, Residences at Wood Street Downtown, McKeesport Downtown Housing, Second Avenue Commons, and the Allegheny YMCA in the North Side. 🌟 Reflecting on a Proud Moment! 🌟 Last week, we celebrated the dedication of the sculpture ‘In the Shade of Service’ at ACTION-Housing’s Forest Hills Veterans and Senior Apartments. This event was a proud moment recognizing the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. We are deeply grateful for our partnership with Operation Valor Arts, which helped us enrich the residents’ experience with this meaningful public art. The sculpture honors the service and sacrifice of our veterans and holds deep significance for many of our residents. A special thank you to the Tenant Council for collaborating on the design and to Tammy Gemas of ACTION-Housing for naming the sculpture ‘In the Shade of Service.’ Thanks to the distinguished guest speakers and all who attended the event!
