Single room occupancy housing (SRO) is a crucial part of Pittsburgh affordable housing network. Read 90.5 WESA’s article on how SROs are key to helping house the region’s lowest-income residents. “It is a really important part of our affordable housing system,” said Lena Andrews, CEO of nonprofit ACTION Housing, which has been involved in redeveloping and managing a number of local SROs. We are grateful for the partnerships that have enabled us to help provide over 500 SROs across the region, including Centre Avenue, Residences at Wood Street Downtown, McKeesport Downtown Housing, Second Avenue Commons, and the Allegheny YMCA in the North Side. These buildings are vital in our efforts to prevent homelessness. Read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/e3fS2Tna

Today, we pause to honor and thank all the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. Their service and commitment inspire us. This week Operation Valor Arts (OVArts) and ACTION-Housing are proud to unveil “In the Shade of Service,” an 18ft high Veteran-designed sculpture at ACTION-Housing’s Forest Hills Veteran & Senior Apartments. Featuring a dog tag leaf canopy, the public sculpture honors the service and sacrifices of our military and their families. As OVArts Co-founder Allyson Holtz says, “When viewers sit under the sculpture’s protective dog tag leaf canopy, we hope they will acknowledge those service men and women, and their families, who safeguard our freedoms.” Join us in celebrating and honoring our Veterans!
