Here are some ways to spot these scams and protect yourself: ⭐ Email Domain: Authentic communications from ASG or our recruiters will never come from a personal Gmail or any free email provider. We only use official company emails. ⭐ Poor Grammar and Language: Watch for bad grammar or awkward phrasing, which is often a sign of a scam. ⭐ Suspicious Interview Requests: We will never ask you to download an app for an interview. All platforms we use offer web-based versions, so any request to download specific software should raise concerns. Here’s an example of a scam message that was sent to jobseekers: “Thank you for your interest in working for Advanced Systems Group, LLC.® We are hiring suitable online candidates for the position of Graphic/Visual Designer(REMOTE) posted on Indeed/LinkedIn. Who will eventually have an office space at home. Interview would be strictly via WebEx Live Chat (Messenger) and you have been scheduled for Monday 11/18/2024 between 8AM ET to 4PM ET... The next step is to download and set up an account for the WebEx application on your PC and mobile device You can add me to WebEx using my email address "arnolddewitt4@gmail.com”” As you can see there are many red flags with this message. Apply directly through this page to ensure your application is secure and reaches our recruitment team. If you encounter suspicious messages, disregard them and report the scam. Stay vigilant, protect yourself, and always verify through official ASG channels. Scammer’s schemes vary, but their essential goal is to get a candidate’s personal information including social security number, financial information, etc. ASG does not request any personal data during the recruiting process and will never make an offer for a position without a verbal discussion with a candidate.

Roy Clay Sr. earned the nickname the Godfather of Silicon Valley for recruiting generations of diverse talent, including math and science graduates from historically black colleges and universities. A hall-of-fame technologist, Clay was a key figure in the development of the personal computer at tech giant HP. He was the first African American executive at HP, where he started in 1965. He also implemented flexible work schedules for employees - another first for the time. After leaving HP, Clay formed a consulting business, which became one of the world’s top venture capital firms relied upon to spot investments. His finds went on to become institutions in the tech world like Intel Corporation and Compaq International, shaping what Silicon Valley looks like today. In honor of Black History Month, we're shining a light on a tech industry icon who could be considered the grandfather of remote work - Clarence "Skip" Ellis. From 1976-1984 Ellis worked at PARC (the Palo Alto Research Center) where he spearheaded a group that invented "Officetalk." It was the first office system to use icons and ethernet to allow people to collaborate from a distance. Ellis was the first African-American to receive a Ph.D. in computer science, which he earned at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1969. While studying, Ellis worked on hardware, software, and the development of the ILLIAC IV supercomputer. He had a long career at major tech companies like Bell Telephone Laboratories, IBM, Xerox, and more.  #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory #blackintech #blackexcellence
