About us
Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC is a national organization working to empower Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) to participate in our democracy and fight for civil and human rights. Through public education, community organizing, litigation and policy development, we advocate for an America in which all Americans are able to equally benefit from, and contribute to, the American dream. With our Advancing Justice affiliates in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Atlanta, we have enacted a sweeping range of programs on critical national issues that enrich, enhance and serve our communities all across the country. We are one of the nation's leading experts on issues of importance to the Asian American community including: affirmative action, anti-Asian violence prevention/race relations, census, immigrants' rights, immigration, language access, television diversity and voting rights. Our expertise is widely acknowledged: in the media, by the public and lawmakers at the very highest tiers of government.

#VictorHugoGreen’s vision changed the face of travel for Black Americans during segregation. From his Harlem home, this forward-thinking postal worker created #TheGreenBook—published annually from 1936 to 1966—to guide travelers toward safe lodgings, restaurants, and more. He ensured dignity, security, and freedom of movement for countless Black families. Join us at #AdvancingJusticeAAJC in honoring his enduring legacy and continuing the fight for justice and equity for all. ✊🏾⚖️ #BlackHistoryMonth

Earlier this year, colleges and universities released demographic data for the first freshman class admitted after the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action. The release of data made one fact clear: colleges and universities do not have the meaningful student data needed to determine the true impact of the Supreme Court’s decision. In a new op-ed published by Inside Higher Ed, Niyati Shah, Director of Litigation at AAJC, and Juhwan S., Assistant Director of Education Policy at AAJC, call on higher education institutions to collect detailed demographic data to more accurately and comprehensively reflect students’ identities. Only then will we understand who is benefiting and who is being left behind when it comes to educational opportunities. You can read the full op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/e3XQnqRq
