“I often explain physician burnout as death by 1,000 cuts. It typically isn’t one incident but an accumulation of stressors or injuries over time. Unfortunately, health care organizations and leaders have too often missed the mark and framed the solution as a need for physicians to simply ‘build more resilience.’ However, the challenges are complex, and therefore the answers are multifaceted.” – Omayra Mansfield, MD, Chief Medical Officer, AdventHealth Apopka Nearly half of U.S. physicians feel burned out, and the overwhelming majority cite professional stress as the primary contributor. In this Clinician’s View, Dr. Mansfield shares how physician-generated and physician-led solutions can help physicians feel whole. Read here: https://bit.ly/3ZCfvlG

While an effective, targeted treatment for many cancers, radiation therapy involves the risk of damaging healthy surrounding tissues or organs, and even small errors in treatment planning, delivery or dosing can have negative consequences. To maximize the therapeutic effects of radiation on cancer cells while minimizing the impact on surrounding healthy tissues, AdventHealth is currently using a variety of technologies to enhance patient safety and treatment effectiveness under the umbrella of surface guided radiation therapy (SGRT). Most recently, AdventHealth Celebration became the first hospital in Florida to use DoseRT® Cherenkov imaging plus AlignRT® technology and the first hospital globally to use the entire surface guided workflow from simulations to treatment. In this Clinician’s View, radiation oncologist Amber Orman, MD DipABLM talks about how this latest advancement provides her team with real-time insights into radiation dose delivery and patient positioning to avert errors and improve clinical outcomes: Read more: https://bit.ly/4ilAwtk
