In September 2024, the African School of Regulation (ASR), co-organized with SEforALL, GIZ, and Makerere University, hosted a transformative policy dialogue in Kampala, focusing on sustainable and scalable mini-grid business models to achieve universal electricity access in Africa. As a result, the Integrated Framework for Electrification (IFE) was created, a comprehensive document outlining how to integrate mini-grid business models, regulation, and financing into national electrification plans for long-term sustainability. Key takeaways: 👉 The IFE framework helps define scalable, cost-effective mini-grid models. 👉 It includes an integrated financing plan to support the development of mini-grid projects. 👉 Emphasizes aligning regulatory approaches with regional electrification goals.
