Powerful Doc of the Night... Stream WHEN LIBERTY BURNS “When Liberty Burns” highlights the life and murder of Arthur L. McDuffie, but his story is simply a launching point for a far grander historical examination of the context in which the city of Miami developed during America’s Jim Crow era.. #streamit on AfroLandTV tonight: https://lnkd.in/en4ntqtK #truestory #documentary #truecrime Soundview Media Partners, LLC #thesoundview #blackhistory #Miami #Florida #movie #history #policebrutality #USMarines #murder Dudley Alexis

Amazing last week! I was blessed to speak about how AfroLandTV is authentically serving audiences stories from the global Black diaspora at the 'Meet The Streamers' event in DC hosted by the Streaming Innovation Alliance (Motion Picture Association). What an honor to share the stage with Marta Kirsis (Paramount), Mann Robinson (Mann Robison Studios), Zuraya Tapia-Hadley (TelevisaUnivision) and Greg Saphier. Regardless of race, color, or creed, great stories will always be enjoyed by everyone! Photo credit: Kevin Dietsch

I'm humbled to be spotlighted as a leader in Black storytelling in Hollywood. AfroLandTV has come a long way, and we still have a long way to go, but it's important to stop and smell the flowers along the way. I'm grateful. Thank you to the Streaming Innovation Alliance (Motion Picture Association) and The Quintessential Gentleman

We're bringing culture to Apple! AfroLandTV is now live on the Apple Vision Pro goggles! We're one of the first independent streaming services to integrate with the Vision Pro. Yet another way for audiences to enjoy Black movies & TV including Nollywood in this new era of TV. Major shoutout to our partner OTTera, Inc. for facilitating this integration. #BlackHistoryMonth

In response to Amazon Prime Video deciding to pull funding from African stories to European ones, it doesn't surprise me—it's a business move. Those markets are just simply bigger and with the current macro-economic enviroment, big media companies are tightening their budgets and laying off thousands of people. Africa doesn't weigh heavily on their priorities. But here is my stance to African/Black filmmakers, executives and investors…True power will come from owning our narrative and distribution. We cannot have one or the other… owning BOTH is non-negotiable. If we don’t champion our own stories we’ll always be beggars. We have the resources to take charge of our own destiny—look at Nollywood in Nigeria, a homegrown industry now generating millions in annual box office revenue. South Africa has a mature film industry with impressive infrastructure even used by Hollywood. Black Americans, with an annual spending power close to $2 trillion, lead viewership on major platforms like Tubi and Roku. When we collectively put our power together as part of the global Black community, we can accomplish creating our own major studios, theater chains, streaming platforms, and networks. Lets build.
Prime Video Cuts Funding in Africa, Middle East in Favor of Focusing on European Originals
