🌍 New AAD Publication! 🌍 Exploring the Long-Term Impacts of Agriculture-Focused Global Experiences 🌱✨ 🔍 Study Highlights: Explored the effects of a global education program for college students 3–7 years after participation. Key themes included social connections, hospitality, resourcefulness, career enrichment, and lasting personal values. Findings suggest these experiences influence career enrichment more than career choice, with participants applying program values to their professional and personal lives. 📚 This study bridges a gap in the literature, highlighting the mid-range impacts of agriculture-focused global programs. It calls for more research to enhance our understanding of these transformative experiences. 📖 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gnpnRtY3 Sorensen, T. J., Henderson, T. M., Schager, A., Vierra, R. C., & Mecham, M. (2024). Exploring the impacts of an agriculture-focused global experience three to seven years after the program. 🌱 New Publication! 🌱 This latest study examines the relationship between knowledge and behavior change in gardening practices. https://lnkd.in/gJDuBpKv Joshi, A., Diaz, J., Kumar Chaudhary, A., Jayaratne, K. S. U., & Galindo, S. (2024). Enhancing effectiveness of extension program evaluations by validating the trustworthiness of self-reported measures of extension program outcomes. Advancements in Agricultural Development, 5(4). 📊 Key Insights: Participants' subjective (self-assessed) and objective (actual) knowledge after training were moderately correlated, meaning self-perception wasn't entirely accurate before training. Subjective knowledge before training was the strongest predictor of gardening engagement after training—not objective knowledge! 🎯 Takeaway for Extension Programs: To inspire lasting behavior change, it's crucial to address participants' existing beliefs and perceptions during training. By tailoring programs to these preconceptions, we can better turn knowledge into actionable, long-term practices. #Gardening #ExtensionPrograms #BehaviorChange #KnowledgeIsPower
